Tracking the Green Light with Stickers & Bulletin...

Ms. Heidi Butkus is a 2nd Grade Teacher at an elementary school in Bonita Unified School District in California. She has been using Reflex with her class for the first time this year with great results.

“Reflex is highly motivational and also a great individualized tool to help children succeed in memorizing the math facts.” Her class uses Reflex on iPads and computers, and some of her students also use it at home. Students “love it and beg to practice and play!”

“We have a sticker chart and they add a sticker each time they hit the Green Light. They love it!”

A couple of sticker charts arranged on the floor. They have a blue border and stickers on them.

Ms. Butkus also keeps tracks of the math facts they know on a “math fact fluency progress bulletin board. They get their names added to a section each time they master a certain fact group, such as the ‘plus fives’ or ‘plus sixes.'” She prints their names on clothes pins, and adds them under the facts they’ve mastered.

She monitors the students through the Reflex reports, but also regularly gives them timed fluency tests. She adds, “this program produces real results!”
